Wyeth and Boston Biomedical Research Institute Sign Option and License Agreement for Alzheimer’s Vaccine Technology
WATERTOWN, MA-June 2002--Boston Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI) has signed an option and license agreement with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a unit of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), concerning the Alzheimer's vaccine technology that was developed independently at BBRI. The agreement gives Wyeth the option to license BBRI’s technology for the development of vaccines against ß-amyloid plaques, which are thought to be causative agents of Alzheimer’s disease
Boston Biomedical Research Institute Completes $1.6 million Science Initiative Challenge from The Kresge Foundation
WATERTOWN, MA-June, 2002—Watertown based non-profit, Boston Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI) has successfully completed a $1.6 million Science Initiative Challenge from The Kresge Foundation. BBRI raised $1.2 million to receive a $400,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation.
Inner Workings of an Anthrax Toxin Described by Local Researchers
WATERTOWN, MA-January 24, 2002—This week the journal Nature will publish the three-dimensional structure of edema factor, one of three deadly toxins produced by the anthrax bacterium. The structure, which explains in chemical terms how the toxin works, was determined in the laboratory of Andrew Bohm at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute by Chester Drum, a graduate student from the University of Chicago.
